I have mentioned this in class, but this is the official announcement: Jason has secured a location for the First Annual Mad Dawg Fitness/Peninsula CrossFit Ski Weekend on Feb. 7th and 8th in South Lake Tahoe. We can have up to 10 people at the location, as of 1/27 we have 6 people. There are 5 beds but space on them is not guaranteed so be prepared to camp on the floor or you can find a place in South Lake Tahoe nearby. I am going to ask that everyone deposit $40 for food. There are two places to ski, Heavenly, which is about 5 – 10 minutes away and Kirkwood which is about 30 – 40 minutes away. Kirkwood is, arguably, better skiing. I don’t really care where we go, so maybe we should vote. Please post questions and sign up on the board at the gym.
In the mean time, check out these cool pictures of Warren and friends climbing:
Set 1: Climbs in Yosemite, including Matthes Crest in Tuolumne, East Buttress of Middle Cathedral (topping out in the first snow of the season), and seeing Hans & Yuji come down from their record-setting Nose climb of 2hrs 37min. Matthes Crest is definitely on my life list, so beautiful.
Set 2: Climbing in SE Utah over Thanksgiving break: Indian Creek (Blue Gramma, Way Rambo, Cat Wall, Supercrack Butt) and Castle Valley (Kor-Ingalls on Castleton). Plus one day at Red Rocks. Getting schooled by 3 stellar Alpine Club chicas – Chris, Meredith and Natalie.
Set 3: Warm weather = January trip to Yosemite Valley, where Sam and I monkeyed around on the South Face of Washington Column. We had the place to ourselves, I did my first aid lead and first aid cleaning, we climbed the Kor roof, and bivied on dinner ledge during the biggest full moon of 2009.
REI sells discount lift tickets for Kirkwood $59/day and Heavenly $72/day.
