Flavia is co-chairing Ecumenical Hunger Program’s tenth annual CrabFest, its primary annual fundraiser. This is a pretty big deal, 450+ guests will attend. MDF is providing a donation for the silent auction. You can buy tickets for $65 from Flavia (more information at the gym). If we get 10 of us, we can get a table I think. In addition, If you have any contacts with restaurants, stores, or other businesses who might want to donate an item, PLEASE let Flavia know ASAP. Examples are: Gift certificates, event tickets, vacation home rentals, and retail goods. Finally, she also needs to recruit helpers to decorate the hall before the event, if anyone’s interested.
Date: Saturday, March 7, 2009 (not sure about the time yet)
Location: I.F.E.S. Portuguese Hall in Mountain View
Description of EHP’s services:
EHP provides food, clothing, household goods, and support services, all free of charge, to people who need help in times of crisis. About three-fourths of our families include one or more working adults such as Lisa M., mother of four children and grandmother to one, who was recently separated from her husband and was in dire need of help just to keep her family afloat. Referred to EHP by a friend, Lisa was able to obtain the food, clothing, and furniture she needed to make ends meet and to provide for the children who depend on her. She also joined EHP’s Women’s Support Group, where she connects with other women in the community who face similar struggles. For more information, visit EHP’s website.
Thanks for posting this, Saul! The event is from 6-9pm that day (Saturday, March 7th). EHP is a great local food bank agency (it is a distributor of Second Harvest food) and a very worthy cause! Thanks in advance to everyone who participates! I will bring ticket order forms to the gym, but people can also email me for one: flavia.berys@dlapiper.com.
