About MDF

We are a group of coaches committed to helping our clients achieve not only their fitness goals, but far beyond what they imagined possible.

CrossFit is a fitness training methodology characterized by functionality, fun and community in a small group setting. The CrossFit program is the first to truly define “fitness.” Through its practice we’re seeking a balance of physical traits to create the healthiest, most functional individuals possible: strength, power, endurance, stamina, flexibility, and coordination. The CrossFit philosophy strongly adheres to the insertion of the Olympic lifts in its daily programing. Here are four reasons why:

  1. Improved Strength – The human body is built in one piece. By lifting the bar from the ground to overhead, the entire body is called into act and it compensates by getting stronger. By regularly practicing functional foundational lifts such as squats and dead lifts we train our bodies to be more efficient in our daily lives.
  2. Improved Cardiovascular System – It’s a simple matter of the length of the movement of the bar.  In a Clean and Jerk, the bar moves from the floor to overhead, upwards of seven and a half feet! Every muscle in the body is used, including all the support system. A tough set of Snatches leaves the lifter heaving for breath, sweating in streams, and the heart racing. All this without even having to go the track!
  3. Higher Intensity – Intense workouts are effective workouts. In Olympic weightlifting, there is little room for forced reps, overload techniques, or any form of cheating. There is no bench, no rack, no supports, or spotting partners. Regardless of ability or load, one gets an intense all body workout.
  4. Efficiency – Olympic weightlifting workouts are time and effort efficient. A solid workout of 5-4-3-2-1 or twenty singles can take less than half an hour. Working the entire body, as well as the cardiovascular system, the Olympic lifts are very taxing. It would be hard to imagine ten sets of ten with bodyweight in the Olympic Lifts. In fact, it is hard to imagine one set.
