I am back and done with the classroom part of the first 100 hours of massage school. I have five practice massages I have to do on my own and another 20 I have to get done at the clinic at San Francisco School of Massage. On July 28, I start the second 100 hours of classroom time and I would like to stay in practice until then, so I am going to try to give at least 2 massages a week until the end of July. That’s a total of about 25 massages so everyone who wants a massage should be able to get at least one.
If you would like to help me, here’s what you need to know:
The massage that I am trained to do is Swedish, so it is more of a relaxation massage. Some people like deeper massage, but I am not trained for that yet (next 100 hours, I need 250 hours combined class and clinic time to get my Certified Massage Practitioner certificate). However, I have been told by some of my classmates that I can still find places that are tight because I have a good understanding of anatomy. In addition, I think I have a good idea where most of you could use some extra work. I’ve found through my experience both in class and by being massaged, it is less about the pressure and more about being really accurate with just the right amount pressure and speed.
You can have as much or as little clothes as you feel comfortable with. Your personal comfort and safety is my first priority. You could have a very relaxing and effective massage with shorts and tank-top.
For now, I am going to do the massages at my home so if you are interested, you should be comfortable with (a lot) of cats. If you live close, I might consider going to your house. I am trying to get some space at an office near the gym so cross your fingers.
I would like to do the majority of these massages on Tuesday afternoons or evenings; however, if those times aren’t good for you, let me know and we can probably work something out. After I get my five practice 1 hour massages, I can be flexible with the time of the massages, if you don’t have 1 hour available.
Because of the student insurance I have to get, I can’t accept payment. This is my incentive to get my certification as soon as possible. 🙂
Finally, I will check with the school and see how I get on their schedule so that you can come up to SF as those are the hours I really need to progress and get my certificate.
