Administrivia: A Bunch of Announcements (updated)
Grass-Fed Beef
We are going to finalize an order of beef from Moon Meadow in Half Moon Bay on Monday, Jan 28. That means checks are due on Dec. 28. It will be $730 for 120 pounds of meat. You can partner up and split as you wish. My understanding is the most of it will be in steaks, as opposed to ground beef and roasts, so it will be fairly easy to divide. There maybe some room in the freezer upstairs, so let me know if you need some extra freezer space. We are working on getting some coolers if you can’t be at the gym on the delivery day.
We are working on getting other meats, like swine, goat and lamb.

Check out Marin Sun Farms CSA if you want more of a variety. You don't get to choose how much of which animal you end up with, but it ends up being pretty well distributed I think. They have beef, pork, chicken and goat. I recently found I'm not such a fan of the goat meat…*shudder*. But you pay for variety….works out to about $8/lb.
I should be there for the saturday workout
. Ooh, and I'm stoked you have one on 12/24 for those of us with nothing better to do
.
yeepee….and of course i'm in for swine…it's the national meat for us island folk.
I'm interested in some pig too. You get the best sausage from farm pigs….

So if we sign up on your list at MDF does that mean we want a "split half", or does that mean we just want some meat and we'll figure out how much later…?
That means you either want a split half (about 100 lbs) or you want to split a split half with someone. To make things easier for me, split halves are paid for by the group and split by the group so it doesn't really matter for me how many people by a split half. Does that make sense?
Cool! The NorCal Sectionals are held at Crossfit Oakland. Mini's probably got some tough workouts up his sleeve.
Too bad I won't be able to go…I'll be in China for a build…work seems to be getting in the way of Crossfit
On a related note – it seems like to qualify for the Crossfit games this year, you pretty much have to be a 'professional Crossfitter'…are there any local competitions for us mortals / recreational Crossfitters who enjoy a little competition?
We will have to make some up.
I'm in for the New Year's Eve workout at 9am!!
re: beef, anyone heard of Pranther Ranch? good / bad / indifferent?
who do we make the checks for beef out to?
A hearty THANK YOU to Pat and Cathy for sorting this out! Steph and I now have our very own meat locker!
