Why The Focus on Knees Over Ankles in DL, Squat, and Lunges?
Yesterday during Diane, you may have heard me or Branden (featured in this movie with Ryan) tell you to “keep your knees over your ankles” or “keep your shins vertical.” This movie explains why it is so important, for safety reasons, to have accurate placement of the knee during squats, dead lifts and lunges. What is not covered in this video, but hopefully we are covering in class, is how accurate knee placement helps create both strength and power. In a nutshell, if you can’t control both ends of the hamstring, then you can’t really get it strong; therefore, you can’t move it powerfully. Check out the video, and discuss in the comments or in class.
Solving Knee Problems, Part 2 with K-Star. Yes, you have to subscribe to the CrossFit Journal to view this video, but for only $25/year totally worth the investment.
