Nutrition Retraction (Sort Of)
Yesterday, I was talking to both Kris and Karl B. about nutrition and The Zone. The thing I don’t like about following The Zone out of the book is that it allows you to eat crappy food (wine and cheese is a “legal” snack according my book “A Week In The Zone”). While I am not an R.D. and cannot legally recommend a specific diet, I have, along with many others at MDF, been able to sustainably both reduce fat and increase my performance using the Paleo diet. Changing your eating habits is hard and not something you can, or want to, do overnight. Make it easy on yourself and do what Robb Wolf says in these documents: Clean up your diet first. Robb’s writing voice is a little sassy but what he says is right on and has been verified in both research and in practice in both the CrossFit community and here at MDF.
If you must do The Zone, buy these docs from the Performance Menu and support his Zealot-like mission to write and distribute useful and effective nutrition info. “42 Ways to Skin the Zone” is the main article explaining how to tweek The Zone so you can actually workout in a sustainable fashion, there are copies at the gym to read.
As usual, post questions and comments here or ask at the gym. There are a number of people at MDF who have some very helpful advice regarding the gory implementation details of being on the Paleo diet, take advantage of this awesome group.
